Independence (22-10) beat Brentwood (25-8) for their first ever Region 6AAA Title on Thursday night 53-49.  This is the second time in as many weeks that the Independence Eagles have beaten Brentwood.  The Eagles defeated the Bruins for the District 11 AAA crown 46-41.  The Eagles increase their hot streak to 11 wins in a row after losing six straight games in January.  Eagles Senior Guard Grayson Murphy (Region Tournament MVP) eclipsed the 2000 point mark fo his career, as this win also gave Head Coach Greg Glass his 100th vicotry.

Independence beat Overton 67-64 in the opening round before facing their Border Battle Rival Summit in the Semi Finals.  Summit had beaten Antioch to square off for the fourth time with the Eagles.  Indpendence won the game in a thriller by a score of 66-63.  Summit finished their season with a school record of wins at 23-7 and a Top Ten Ranking.  

Brentwood defeated Hillsboro in the opening round 47-40 before beating a good Cane Ridge team 64-51.  Brentwood led by Kellen King, Reed Smith and Christian LaBreche stormed into the finals to face the Eagles. 

Brentwood will travel to Clarksville Northeast on Monday , March 7th to play in the TSSAA Sub State Qualifier.  With a win the Bruins will move into the Final 8 and State Tournament being held in Murfreesboro.  The Eagles will host Mt. Juliet on Monday with the State Tournament berth on the line as well.  Tipoff is slated for 7:00 pm.
